Ok just caught my little over 6 week old roo breeding his "mother". She laid right down and let him! I know, I know, chickens don't get the mother son relationship, but I can't say it didn't shock me.

lol My question is...was this just the act of breeding (though it most definitely looked like he did the full on deed) or could he really be fertilizing already?? I kind of feel stupid for asking, but I have 3 almost 6 month old roos, that have not even tried to crow, much less play with the 20 something hens.

My 6 week roos are no where near mature enough to mate. I have no idea. But, if you don't want him to mate his momma, you need to seperate them sooner or later. Guess it's sooner!
