Hi everyone.

I have a 6-y-o Muskovy who used to spend her entire day roaming about and foraging. One of my most active gals. In the summer I noticed her sitting around more. She'd also walk a few steps and sit. When she walked, she didn't appear lame. She's still continuing this behavior, and I did notice her limping yesterday.

I was looking at different poultry supplements, but if I do purchase something, it will have to be for all 18 of my flock. The local feed store only had supplements for chicks/ducklings. They stared at me blankly when I said that she was six YEARS old, not six days. I used to put niacin in their water when I had a gosling in with them, but just feed them regular duck grower pellets now (and cracked corn).

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

could it be arthritis? my ducks are still young (just under 4 years) but i know that arthritis is common in older ducks. if you can take her to the vet to get it confirmed there's a lot of ways you can treat it at home (cold laser, supplements, etc)

I have an 11 yr old Muscovy drake with what I assume is arthritis just from observing him. He got into a fight with my gander a couple of years ago and hurt his leg now he was walking with a limp. I had started him on 81mg aspirin last year then a member here took her duck to an avian vet because of her legs and she was rec Cosequin with MSM. I have had my drake on it now for close to 6 months and he is not limping any longer. This particular product is in powder and says for horses. I sprinkle the powder over a small amount of dog food[dry ]and put a tiny amount of warm water over let it sit till it's soaked in then give it to my drake he loves dry dog food so he gobble it right down. Maybe you'll see a big difference in your Muscovy if you get her on it.
