Hello,

New to chickens and first time with a feathered foot chicken. We just moved this splash maran to the coop last night and today she seems to lay down a lot. She is eating and drinking but I am concerned her legs/ feet may be hurt. Is this typical of this breed?

Is she walking normal when she walks?
If not, some video might help.
Did she have trouble walking when she was inside in the brooder(I'm assuming she was in a brooder before going to coop)?
Is she with other birds of the same age also newly out to the coop?

Need more info.

Her feet seem a little off balance, like she cannot get it flat with all the feathering on her toes. She will take a few steps and immediately lay down. Even to eat, she will walk around then lay down to eat.

She was fine running around in the brooder. When she was a few weeks old, her toe feather did bleed when coming in but she got over that quick.

She is with the same birds of the same age in the coop. I am hoping the move from brooder to coop didn't cause an injury and maybe she was just scared.

Are her toes or feet curved or oddly shaped? It’s odd that she was fine in the brooder, if you think be feathers on the feet are bothering her you can trim them, just be careful not to cut her toes
