I have been a chicken mom for almost 7 weeks now. I can't believe it! It's flying by. In this time, I've bought 3 groups of 4 assorted bantam chicks. I've been through losing one to FTT. I've learned that when you think everything is perfect with your coop, it isn't. I've learned that my guest room isn't the ideal place to keep chicks while you finish the coop. I've learned that with the exception of @thecatumbrella, chicken math is real! 😆

But I've learned that keeping chickens is an absolutely joy. They make me laugh, and they make my days better. They're just so much fun.

This weekend I'll be adding 4 Porcelain d'Uccles to my little bantam flock. And I've got 6 standard birds coming at the end of the month.

This post is really just for me to document my thoughts so far, and of course to share some pictures. No questions or favors, just cute chick pictures for your enjoyment.

It’s a lot of chickens! They’re lucky to have you, though. And I’m glad they give you as much joy as mine give me. ❤️

So many cute faces!!
Thank you! My middle group is going through a bit of a ragged phase at the moment, lol. Poor Pippin especially. That might just be a silkie thing to look a little rougher than the others as feathers grow in though.

My black Silkie was pretty raggedy, probably because it’s such a big contrast between the pin feathers and their fluff. Still super cute, especially with those big dark eyes they have. Like little stuffed animals.

Yeah I think this is maybe the 2nd picture I've gotten of him where it looks like he's actually got eyes. He's so dark all over.
