I laughed so hard this morning. I let my turkeys along with the fourteen chicks out of their coop into the run this morning. Well, three of my guineas flew into the run (they use to go into the run before the turkeys came along)and my little turkeys ran from them at first but then one little turkey puffed himself up dropped his wings and stuck up his tail and took off after one of the guineas! The guinea tried hard to find a way out of the run! Then another little turkey did the same thing. Brave little guys decided the run belongs to them? I have had a young roo or two go into the run with them this past week but they have gotten along fine. Those guineas are just not welcome or they think they are just too ugly!? I ran to the house after observing for a few minutes and laughing but by the time I got back it was over. How wonderful to see a minature puffed up turkey...a preview of when they are grown. Since this is my first time with turkeys this was a real gift and wish I could have caught their first time in a photo.
I did have one turkey fly outside the run the other day and I panicked but it came to me so I was easily able to put it back inside. they haven't attempted to leave the run again. I do know they all run into the coop when I am on the riding mower so it is now easy for me to put them up at night...I just start the mower.
Wonder how long that will last?
