8-9 Month Old Going Through a Molt?!

Is it at all possible for my 8-9 month old hen to be going through a molt right now? I was walking by the chicken pen today when I saw my Jersey Giant (or Black Australorp... Not really sure what breed) was missing feathers around her face as well as a little on her neck too. I don't know if she is possible sickly or just going through a molt? Please help!

Yep... it's that time of the year and some will already go through a first molt...

I also questioned it when my young 'uns molted last month!
