8 coons down and still losing hens

I have a friend that put a child monitor in the coop and the receiver Next to his bed so he can respond if there is trouble in his coop.

We had a similar situation and it was possums. The list is long of possible culprits. DP traps work beautifully on coons, possums and I recently was told they are effective for skunks. I don't know how well a weasel can manipulate it's front paws, but if it it's dexterity is near like the animals mentioned above, the DP will catch them also.

Snares are not discriminating. They will catch anything. I would like to see someone try a "Squirrel Pole" type snare set-up for weasel family predators. We have a very few minks here, but I've never seen one around our chickens.

This link above shows wrapping the wire around the ramp piece. I used a screw to wrap the wire around. With my battery operated drill, I was finished in minutes. Most animals will use the ramp for a much easier climb than having to climb vertically.

Ask a hunter on Craigslist to "rent" his game cam. There are some really cheap ones on ebay you may want to purchase.

A cheap rig that worked very well for me was a Home Depot motion sensor outdoor light rig. I bought a screw-in plug receptacle and put it where the bulb would normally screw in. I ran a wire into the house and installed a buzzer. So, when something sets off the motion sensor, instead of a light coming on, the buzzer in the house starts buzzing.

I say it is a weasel or mink. Your best chance to get it is like an earlier post said. Find a place to sit, don't move, then shoot it. It may be living in your coop under something. They take up very little space.
