Hello everyone! My 8 day old baby chick has a scratch on it’s foot. I have no idea how she got it and what to do. I was going to introduce some grass from the area where I am going to keep them. Is it okay at this age? Can I still introduce the soil or will she get an infection? I check my set up for sharp edges but I can’t find any. Thank you inadvance for any assistance.

Sorry, I didn’t realize I upload that photo. (That is a photo of the scratching. They dug threw wood chips and paper towels to get to Bolton of container.) I can’t get a good pic with out stressing her out. I have been watching her very closely. It seem to be okay now. Knowing that she has a small scratch can I still introduce dirt?

If you are really worried, spread some antibiotic ointment on it. Neosporin for example. Or any brand of antibiotic ointment. Just don't use one that also includes a pain reliever since some pain meds are bad for birds.
