8 month old rooster needs some help

Do you have any idea of how many people would be extremely happy to have a cockerel that age not crowing and disturbing the neighbors?

Seriously I don't see a problem as long as he is acting healthy. If he is not the dominant chicken the more dominant may be suppressing him from crowing but it sounds like he is trying. He may just need more practice or he may never have a good crow. They are living animals, not programmable robots, so you can get different results.

Thanks when he try’s I’ve heard noise come out like twice but I’ve seen him try other times and it looks like air just comes out I just changed his pen and he is the dominant rooster now so one of my guesses is that he just has a faulty noise box

When they're maturing they're voices often "crack" like a huan teenager's. I've had cockerels that have raspy crows or can't crow at all and pullets that make weird croaks rather than clucking.

Out of my three current roosters, the #2 rooster has by far the loudest and deepest crow, #3 is a close second. Oddly the #1 rooster's crow is the least loud and best described and noticeably high pitched: think the difference between Barry White and Richard Simmons. They're all about a year and half old.

If he's otherwise healthy I wouldn't worry about it.
