Yesterday I noticed one of my 8 week old chicks not looking up it was like only looking at the ground and today it try’s to keep its head in between its legs I have had this happen before and it didn’t end well all of my chicks are on chick elixir (I will post a photo of the bottle) I am really hoping that it is just a vitamin deficiency and that it will get better quickly but I will need help and if you have any ideas on what else I can do please please tell I really want this chick to have a happy life.

What you really need is human vitamin E 400 IU and a 1/-1/2 tablet daily of human B complex to treat the wry neck symptoms. Add a few bits of scrambled egg daily as well for selenium The tonic you have doesn’t have how much E, and doesn’t include thiamine or selenium. Wry neck can be common in silkies, and can be asymptom of vitamin E or thiamine deficiency, head injury, genetics, and is seen in a few diseases that affect the brain. Mareks, Newcastles, and others are ones that can.

The Poly Visol does not have enough vitamin E or thiamine, and diluting it in water is even less. Can you get the E softgels at a store or pharmacy? Puncture it and give it orally. Holding the chick pull down on the wattles to open the beak, and give a couple of drops, release the wattles to let it swallow, and repeat. You can get a free 1 ml syringe without a needle at most pharmacies for use in giving oral medications.
