That is what I suspected, but I was hoping because the rust wasn’t just on the wings there was a chance it’s a girl

If it was a more even-color pattern, it could be. I have a few EE girls that have red on the wings, but it's more subtle and not so dark.

I just hope he stays sweet. I have a nearly 2 year old lavender Orpington that has turned into a real a-hole.

Cockerel. Along with the rust color, his comb is bright red.

Love my Rusty. He's the smallest of my roos so when he gets a bit too friendly with the girls they either turn around to look at him like he's a mosquito or another hen will come along to remove him. Nice to have a little boy that doesn't inadvertently remove a girl's feathers just from his size.

Just needed to wait a few days before posting…confirmed this morning this little one is indeed a cockerel
