Well, I posted about Nugget 2 weeks back, when "she" was 6 weeks old. Everyone said she was a pullet...I still think she is...but she still gets me a little suspicous. He comb is medium sized, and her wattles are still small and yellow. But whenever Nugget gets excited, curious, scared or whatever...her comb and face (Wattles only get a teeny bit red) turns a bright red. The other chicks DO do this...but it isn't noticeable, as they don't get as red as Nugget's face does. It's not like...blood red, but it is the color a roo's comb would look like. Which makes me a little worried. Everything else? She's somewhat skittish...VERY moody. But she's not mean to the other 4 chicks. Legs are a little big. Her posture? Hm...questionable, but it looks more like a pullet's stance than it does rooster. She had her feathers come in the fastest. Her hackle feathers are the shiniest of the RIRs. They are developing well, but are still round...as well as the saddle feathers. Her tail? Looks roosterish....it's not shiny, and it's the same color as the other RIRs. But it does have a couple longer feathers that curve just the slightest...it's mostly straight, just a little longer than the other chicks. When you look at Nugget, you immediately question the gender....at times she looks like a rooster. And next time I'm positive she's a pullet. Pics coming soon.
