I've posted 3 pics. One is my blue and the second is a partridge and the 3rd is grey or partridge(not sure). They are all from the same breeder and all are 8 weeks old. I'm not sure if they are siblings. It may be too early on the last two, but with those wattles, I'm thinking the blue is a roo!

I apologize for the fuzziness of the pictures. I bought a cheapo camera to get some pics before they all grew up and will post better pics (esp for when I start asking questions about colour and type etc.)

Thanks, Shelley

I would go back to the person you got these from because there is no way that first one is only 8 weeks old. Look at the wattles. I could be wrong but I've just never seen one at that age have that much wattle. Are those red? Or is my screen distorting the color of the wattles?

Basskids08,

I got the 6 when they were 3-4 weeks old. My tiniest, a black is probably the 3 wk one, but he was (the blue) no bigger than the other 5. Mr. Wattles is the largest, but not by much. Even in regards to feathering, he is similar to his nest mates. Maybe he isn't pure Silkie? (The breeder was very professional, so I doubt that is the case). The wattle isn't as red as in the pic and it is much darker than my white roo. (who is a year old) who's wattle and comb are dark red.

There is a pic of all of them together with the blue 'wattle roo' standing up and the tiniest one nesting. In the pic of the group, she's on the far left and you can see she's tinier.

They were just bought for pets and I took the six because the were all the same age (and she just had the 6 of them). She had many more that were younger, but I figured as they were my first, I'd take take the older ones. I posted him simply because, Silkies are notoriously difficult to sex and he's 'out there'. Feet are Silkie and he has the turquoise ear lobe. Perhaps I could send her a pic of him and get her take. Since, I'm pretty sure I have at least one other roo in the bunch and she new I was looking for hens....

Anyways, thanks for your input...I'll email her and let you know what she says.

Whew, so he may not be a 'freak'? lol Not that that would matter - he is just obviously unusual. He fits in just fine with the rest.

They look 8 weeks to me.

Here are some of mine at 8 weeks.

I am very new to Silkies - what is it that makes him pet quality? The redness of his comb/wattles or are there other things that you see. I appreciate you taking the time to post. He was purchased as a pet so no worries. What is his colouring? Thanks, Shelley
