Wow okay, so these chicks are hurting my brain. And I’m hoping by posting these chicks it’ll further help others who are also scouring the internet for photos that look like their chicks.

I had two classic EE’s, chipmunk colouring, peacombs - easy peasy! Flash forward to Jan 31 and I see these cute chocolate brown and blonde chicks and now I know nothing.

I will say, that all 5 of my chicks (4 ee’s and one black australorp) all feathered at the same time, wings were all the same length, everyone got tail feathers within a day of each other. All are very even tempered, still a little skittish, but very sweet. All have around the same posture, nothing that outwardly screams “Hi I’m a cockerel!” I’ve had a Orpington, bcm and a polish who I could tell were boys by week 4 (and they ALL feathered super slowly)

I have two chocolate ones, one’s head turned white which is the one I’m questioning, ha! And two white ones, one has muff/beard (the only one)

These chicks are 8 weeks old, very little comb growth, zero wattle growth. But in some light the blush looks more red, and my iPhone changes the lighting which is annoying but we’ll see what you think 😅

(Last photo is both white chicks)

Here’s some Birds Eye views if it helps seeing more body colouring/tail postures:

Can’t wait to hear what y’all think. Easter eggers aren’t as easy to tell as other breeds, come to find out 😆 oof!

Thank you in advance!! 🤍🤍🤍🤍

I love EEs! Yours all have female specific coloring. One common clue for EE cockerels is they will often develop a reddish/ rust color on their shoulders and will be generally more splotchy and uneven in coloring. Yours all have very even coloring so I'd go with all pullets.

That is wonderful news!! 😅 the colour blooming on the combs started to make me sweat a little. But I just adore them 😍

I agree! I've got some young EEs and this was really the tip off that I had a Cockerel.

This photo is of Kuro, my one Cockerel. You can see he's got much different coloring front to back, bigger comb, and if you look closely he's got red on his wings. I think the crucial point was the red came in much later than the other colors, he was pretty much just a black chick.

Great example! He's handsome, too.
