9 month old Barred Rock Hen

I don't think she has ever layed an egg. Is there any way to tell? Any tips? I've read about internal laying in the posts. What is that?

Internal laying is the egg moving abnormally into the abdominal cavity. They are very sick chickens when this happens. At 9 months, it's much more likely that she is just going to mature late. Bet she will lay in the spring.

Thanks for the info. The BR still has dark yellow legs while the other "layers" have all turned much paler. I guess we will see in the spring. She still seems very healthy and isn't molting or anything. Thanks again for the reply.

the barred rock we had took 10 months before she started laying...
