I know that Silkies are notoriously hard to figure out gender, but this one is making me feel like he’ll be easy .

Getting a body shot of this one is difficult, but none of my cockerels of the same age of any saddle, hackle, or tail feathers yet. S/he just looks like a fuzz ball right now.

Don't be too quick to say cockerel!
As you know, chicks can change appearance so much as they grow. I had a chick who looked just like yours only more pronounced comb growth and chick was so macho- upright stance, quick to be first to come eat or to peck at my hair and fingers- I was so sure this was a boy that I placed him as such before I got DNA results back because a great home was offered by a visitor who was leaving town that day. 2 days later the DNA. results said pullet. I've been able to accurately call the sex of all but 1 of 25 chicks in my care and this was the one. DNA test is the way to go if you want quick ( several days ) accurate sexing. Best lab to use is also the least expensive., 12$ per bird for blood test and a little-known if you submit feather sample instead. IQ Technologies in Miami . Check out their website ,just do a search for "IQ Birdtesting ". Very nice folks too!
