So first off this is my first time raising chickens:D. I just moved my six 9 week old pullets from the brooder to the coop 4 days ago. Its raining hard here in the northwest this week (no surprise there) and I went to check on them tonight and they were all huddled in the corner in a pile. I know they can get on the two roost becauseI have seen them up there during the day. The coop is 5' x7' and about 5' tall. It is not insulated and has a metal corrugated roof. It's about 48 degrees here and I'm wondering if they are cold or scared or just still sleep on the floor because that's what they are used too? Or am I over thinking this? They have not been out of the coop yet. Oh I don't know if this matters but there are 2 Americanas, 2 Jersey Giants and 2 what were sold to me as Buff Orpington's but appear too red to me but that's another story. Any help would be great.

Since you just took them out of the brooder, they are probably adjusting to the temperature. Plus you said its raining so they are adjusting to that too. Since they are still young, they probably don't feel safe roosting up high yet, especially in the dark. I noticed that with mine. Don't worry to much. Hope this helps. Soon they with figure out what those roosts are for and use them all the time.
