9 wk speckled sussex

Start feeding them "layer feed" when they start to squat, or when they actually start laying. Speckled Sussex sure are pretty birds.

don't forget to give them oyster shell.

One of my favorite chickens. Hardy, smart, long loved and pretty.

Estelle was 8 when she passed away and still laid eggs, not too often but now and then.

My speckles are huge.. They sound like a bowling ball being tossed off the coop in the morning.

They lay every day though! Well, almost!

Anyway, my other thread about feed for pullets got an answer. Feed Flock raiser or Meat bird feed til lay, oyster shell on the side, if you aren't giving them chick starter. I hear that you shouldn't feed starter much past 6 or 7 weeks.
