$950 Chicken Coop. What do you think?

It's a lovely coop and totally worth the money if you do not want to do it your self. When we built our 4x6 coop (see BYC page) we put probably $350 into the materials but it was A LOT of work to build it and my husband said that if anyone asked him to build another it would cost $1000 to make up for sweat equity. We have a guy down the road building coops similar to Horizon's coops and he wants $1000 for a 4x6 coop. I totally get it!

I agree with you Isa. It's obvious lots of work went into building that coop. We've built similar coops, but not nearly as intricate, and it's very time-consuming if done right. If we didn't have the know-how to build our own, or modify a shed, and if I only had a few chickens, I'd probably not hesitate to buy that coop.

Its estetically pleasing to the eye, and if that is enough for you... do it! Long as you know you don't want to expand it one day. I'm already expanding my coop, because I have to have MORE chickens!!!!

We rented to own a nice 8x16 portable shed. I made a few "chicken enclosures and it doubles as a shop, storage and "thinking" place.

I love it in there. I call it the "NURSERY", because this is where I keep the babies until they are old enough to go to the barn.

Here is the inside showing the "enclosures"
