96 Eggs Set This Morning- Incubation Thread *WE'RE ON DAY 21*

Did you open the bator? That will cause this problem. I speak from experience with that. I lost a dozen chicks in one batch that way, and I am quite sure it was because I opened the bator a few times.

Humidity is so controversial. Personally, I like mine around 60% at hatch time, and not more than 65%. Some say it really depends where you live and your altitude. This is just what works for me.

Anyway, congratulations on your new chicks!

I did very very briefly to pull chicks but my humidity stays high. It wasn't sticky or shrink wrapped or anything

Anyway, I'm hopeful for at least 1 of these last 3. A BLRW is almost out The one I broke is still moving in their. Hope its a good sign. The other dark brahma is still moving in there but no pip.

Ready for this hatch to be over. Good numbers though! 11 Lt brahmas shipped from north Florida. Bought 12, got 15. She also included the Dk brahmas for me. The other batch, not as good. Bought 12 got 18 eggs. 2 Marans and 6 BLRW hatched. These came all the way from West Virgina though so I figured a lower rate.

Itsazoo, yes, you have pretty good numbers, not bad on the shipped eggs either. I got 3, maybe 4 out of 15 shipped from Texas. 50% is supposed to be good. I did not open mine bator untill there was obvious trouble on several eggs, 2 had zipped and not moved in over 12 hours. I helped 4 out , 2 made it, 2 were beyond hope. I really think my problem was humidity because even on the ones that hatched early, there are bare places, mostly on the wings where there is not any fulff, like it was stuck and the feathers pulled off when hatching. Thought it was high enough at 60 - 65 %. Will try to get it higher if I ever feel like doing this again. ..........stan

grr... didn't help fast enough.. the other Dark Brahma passed..

The one I broke earlier today isn't doing so well either.. I went ahead and helped it out and it's very lethargic.. Not acting like he should be. I got him to drink some Sav-A-Chic so maybe that will help. I will give him a few more drops before bed if he lives until then and we will see what morning brings. Really disappointed in this hatch.. wanted more of my BLRW... guess I will have to find someone close by if these don't prove to be what I want. Anyone know anything about BLRW coloring? I believe I have Blue, BLRW and maybe a couple of splash. Not sure about the other. I don't see blue on him really.. hmm..

This is the one I was thinking was a blue but now I'm not sure.. I'm seeing the reddish top on him.

Ideas?

I just went in the check on Crush (what I'm calling the Dk Brahma I almost killed) fully expecting him to be dead ANNNDDDDD... he was CHEEPING and scooting around a little!!

Sav A Chic is a miracle worker!! I am serious! When I hatched him out he was lying there, not cheeping or moving. NOW, he's "alive"!! I rinsed out the bator to drop the humidity and lined with clean paper towels for the two late arrivals who are both rather sticky from being in "lockdown" 5 days. I have so many crazy dry chicks they would be trampled.

Anyway.. More sav a chic every few hours until serious improvement but she's on the mend... I hope!!
