Greetings fellow chicken enthusiasts. I figured the easiest way for this was to follow the template so here goes......
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? New to chickens. Just purchased my first pair 3 months ago, alas one of them didnt make it past the chick stage. I'm not sure exactly what she had but needless to say she was put to rest in the garden.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? One
(3) What breeds do you have? Buff Orpington
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Searching for the symptoms I had on the sick baby chick. IE Google.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Hunting, fishing, hiking, drums(I just started learning), anything aviation related.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We are a family of 5, the one Buff, and 2 boxers. I am a Flight Engineer on KC-130s for the Marine Corps. I am glad to have found this site and hopefully will one day become one of the chicken professionals on here able to answer questions and spread a wealth of knowledge about raising backyard chickens.
PS. I have thought about getting a second chicken to replace the lost chick but after further review my HOA does not allow chickens. So the goal is to keep it as quite as possible in the backyard so Ive decided the one is going to have to do for now, until i move.
Nice to meet everyone.
