Ok I know this sounds strange but I had a chick that hatched about 2 weeks ago, and so help me it smells like a wet dog. It had some leg issues upon hatching, and I made it some boots. It is able to stand now, but it toes are still turn around almost in a circle. It has become used to walking this way, and even running some. I think it will make it, and I can accept it is different. It is strange though, it stinks like a wet dog, (badly). Has anyone come across this before? Could it be something in its diet?

separate that chick and give POLYVISOL enfamil formulation three drops in beak once a day (this is a childrens liquid A-B-D vitamin) for a week then taper off the next. I would also give (in addition) AviaCharge 2000 (in feed or water > you can purchase this online from McMurry or Strombergs) ... deficiency and malabsorption can be managed this way .
Offering a live culture plain (nonflavored) yogurt should get the intestinal flora in order which may help with the smell.

Ok I had started the chick on the vitamins upon seeing it after hatch two weeks ago. I hadn't tried the yogurt, looks like I'm heading to Krogers this morning. I hadnt' thought about the yogurt. I have worked with various problem chicks, just not this situation. Thanks for all your help in advance.
