Hey all
I am growing chickens in my backyard which is located in a city. lately my chickens wake up very early and start to chat. i am worried this might soon be too much for my neighbors to take.
what i want to do is build a small coop which will have an automatic door. this way the door will close after dark (when they are allready in) and will open up only latter in the morning (not 5AM).
do any of you have any experience about such things? do u think it can work?
thanks in advance

It seems like if you get electricity out to the coop this kind of door would be very plausible. You might wantto make sure that light isn;t coming in from anywhere else also.

I have the auto door opener and it runs on batteries. Plus I use a timer on mine. I have it set to open at 7 and close 30 minutes after they go to roost. I love it plus when I go on vacation I know the birds are able to go out in the mornings and are locked up at night. If I had to ask my kids to do it they would forget about them leaving them locked in the coop all day. Foy's is the dealer for the US. But you might be able to come up with something else if you didn't want to spend the money on the auto door opener. Plus you don't have to buy the door you can mker your own. I made mine out of diamond plate since my pop hole was larger then the doors they offered at the time. Added both links didn't know where you live.
