I have one egg that's due to hatch anyday now. I calculated it as yesterday, but I took it from a broody that died during a fox attack - so heartbreaking, lost whole flock - and this egg is all I have of them. Anyway, during last candling, the air sac looked weird. It has like light patches in it. Worried. Should I candle it again to see if the beak's in the sac?

Secondly, I ordered four new eggs from Ebay. Day 4 has arrived. Candled them last night. They are porous so it's hard to candle. What's the cause of porous eggs? Do they hatch? Can't see any spider like embryos in there yet. Starting to think they're not fertile. The yolk floats at the top of the egg.

I would re-candle the ready to hatch egg. It sounds like you might have a bad 4 eggs from Ebay. Eggs that are overly porous usually result from a poor diet. Sometimes they hatch, but they tend to lose too much moisture during incubation. For very porous eggs, I recommend keeping humidity a bit higher than usual.
