Hello! A couple quick questions, hope you all don't care to help!

Just moved to my new property, so I do not have any chickens yet. My wife is making help get the inside fixed and unpack before I get started on the outdoor fun!

Anyways, I am going to be getting Bielefelders, and I cannot wait! I am wanting 25 hens and 2 roos. Is that a good ratio? They'll all purchased together, so they'll be raised together. Is this an issue?

They'll have a 10'x16' coop that they'll be in, but they'll be free ranging on 1/4-1/2 acre during the day (unless they decide to chill in the coop). Is that enough room?

Thank you!

That sounds good! Just watch out, as pullets near egg laying the roosters will try to mount them. The roosters are not very gentle, but as they get older they will be nicer.

Thanks! I've seen people mention separating the hens and the roos. Is that 100% necessary? Those that do that, do they just put them back together when they want fertile eggs?

You will have fertile eggs all the time. I would separate them if they attack the hens or each other. But the roos will most likely not fight, because you have a good amount of space.
