A few questions about racoons!

What materials can raccons rip off? How small of an opening can racoons squeeze through? Can they rip of chicken wire, how would I attach chicken wire so its sturdy enough so they can't get through? Can they push open heavy barn doors lol???

any wire that a human can bend with their hands a raccon can tear threw. welded wire, chain link and harwire cloth are very very hard for them to tear threw. they can just about fit threw any hole their head can fit.

They can and will tear through Chicken wire. Your best bet to keep your chickens safe is to put Hardware Cloth over it.

Dogs, Coyotes, Bears, Foxes, Bobcats, and Raccoons will just tear through Chicken Wire. Mink and Weasels will just go through the holes.

Staples from a staple gun can be pulled off by them.
Chicken wire is useless with them, the can bend it, put their arms though it.
They can undo hook latches. They will work on things for hours, and come back night after night, being very smart animals.
We lost a lot of chickens last year, because of raccoons. They grabbed them through the chicken wire and literally ripped the poor animals apart. (This year we built a new coop and run)
Your best bet is to use hardware cloth (yes it's expensive, but well worth it), staples that are hammered in, and really secure latches.
