A Few Questions...

Hi everyone,

so yesterday we got two more chickens. both are plymouth rock bantams and one is frizzled. Today i had the smaller of the two (not frizzled, born in october) on our lawn and as she was walking around i noticed her tail seemed to tilt to the left. Is this just because her feathers are just like that or is there something else wrong? Also, we are having some trouble integrating our new chickens. Today we brought one into the coop and set her down while staying close by. She didnt really seem to notice and just scratched around a bit. Then when i went to pick her up she ran away right into our silkie Ruby. They really went at it and started fighting under our rabbit hutch. My sister was able to grab the new girl and i scolded Ruby. Any tips on how to minimize the fighting??? Also, right now they are in a cage in the run with the others and they didnt go through a quarintine period (mainly because i didnt know it was necessary and im new to this ). Will the other hens be OK even though i skipped a quarintine?

Sounds like wry tail on the one chickie. Wait until the other birds are asleep to integrate maybe. And NO you should ALWAYS quarantine. Who knows what the new ones may or may not have.

so should i go ahead and quarintine them now even though they have already been exposed?

I would if it were me. It may not be too late. If it's just one day it's worth taking the precaution anyway.
