I know I should know all this by now but I don't..lol I have never hatched my own eggs in a incubator just my hen has hatched eggs for me and when I got her she was already older. Now I have atleast 5 to 6 pullets that I need to know how to deal with when they begin to lay. So here is my questions.

1. When will my silkie hens start laying?

2. When will my roos be old enough to fertile a hen?

3. How long should I wait after they begin to lay to try hatching their eggs Like at what age? I heard hatching pullet eggs could ask for alot of problems with the chicks.

Thats all for now If I have more questions I'll post them here.

Silkies 6 mos on ---

I hatch pullet eggs no issues -- some wait
roos are fertile when they crow but they have to figure out process

Thanks for the quick answers. I have read alot on this board but it never sinks in till you ask yourself. My oldest are around 5 and half months.

I have just saw some say that when hatching pullet eggs the egg might be too small for the chick to get turned and pip and zip and get out.
