A friend sent this picture of this hen asking if I knew what she could be...

This is how she described the hen.... We bought her from the Feed Store in Spring 2013. She was supposed to be a Barred Rock. Obviously not. Any clue what she might be? She's only about 2 pounds, lays very small white eggs, is very vocal - kind of whiny and very flighty..

I think a 'black' Blue Andalusian is a good guess. Or possibly a hatchery grade Black Minorca. I don't think it's a Leghorn or its legs would be yellow.

On good leghorns for sure. In my experience yellow legs are extremely hard to get on black birds. I thought perhaps Minorca , but don't you think the earlobes are a little small?

That was why I said "perhaps" on a hatchery grade Minorca. Sometimes these hatchery grade birds are quite far from APA standards, but I really think a 'black' Blue Andalusian is more likely.
