Yesterday we hard boiled some eggs that were getting too old to sell. I peeled them and sent my 10 year old DD out to throw them to the hens. When I feed back hardboiled eggs I sort of squish them first and give them a toss, so they are eating something that doesn't look like an egg. I don't leave the shell on for that reason too, though some folks feed them the whole thing.
Well, she must have just lobbed them over the fence and let the chickens do whatever they wanted to them. Because when we went out to collect eggs in our Buttercup pen this morning, one of the little ladies had added a hardboiled egg to her clutch of eggs she had in a nest on the floor.
She'd be sitting that one for a long time wouldn't she!?
