I was shocked when I saw how many raccoons were trying to get to my four weeks old chicks on their first night out in the transition coop! I am happy for this group and the fabulous information that is shared on the forums. I would not have taken as many precautions as I had and my babies would have been no more without all of the good information I found here.

Racoons are the smartest! They have a bad reputation with chicken owners, they can get through some types of latches and chicken wire (which is, ironically, not good enough to house chickens).

The bigger problem is that the raccoons have now attracted my ex-husband. He thinks he is coming to trap the raccoons for his winter meat.

I now need a truckload lot of the heaviest guage hardware cloth manufactured!
