We have one lonely female guinea, she disappeared and we thought something got her, come to find out she had decided to sit on her unfertile eggs, (15 of them.) After we found her we felt so bad for her she wanted to hatch eggs so bad, so we took a chance and placed 2 fertile chicken eggs under her and 3 weeks later we had 2 baby chicks and 15 unhatched guinea eggs. So if anyone need to know a guinea will hatch chicken eggs. What a happy mother, that was untill we tossed her rotten eggs.

Very cute!

But PLEASE PLEASE watch her, guineas are actually terrible mothers

They will take the babies out for a walk and loose them all. When my guineas hatched out keets, I first saw 14, I think....and the next morning when I was able to catch the keets only 9 were left

Have to agree with txchickie. If you had a lot of guineas, some would act as nannies and the keets/chicks would be pretty well guarded. But with mama being all alone...where's that little shrugging smiley when I need it?

We had three keets hatched here a few weeks ago and are down to two in spite of their "honor guard".

Best of luck with however you decide to raise your chickies.
