so, I have a little problem. I bought a heater for my brooder and i'm not sure if it will get to the required 90 degrees. also, it doesn't have a light. (its not a heat lamp) It looks like this and i put it on top of my brooder. any recommendations?

The best way to find out is to put it in your brooder with a couple of thermometers and measure. If your brooder is small enough, it will probably be fine. Small spaces heat up and stay pretty warm with a constant heat source. If your brooder is larger, you should still be fine as long as the temp is good near the brooder. The chicks will decide where they're comfortable as long as they have a place that is definitely warm enough.
