What kind of chicken would be light, like a buff or creamy yellow color? A list of options would be nice to get me started.

There are lots of breeds that are buff colored, are you trying to think of a specific breed or what are you trying to figure out ?

I was just thinking of adding another chicken or two to my flock and was thinking of the possibility of a light colored bird. Just wanted suggestions. I want one that doesn't go broody, lays eggs, and is a standard.

Depending on what your climate is (didn't see that by your name), leghorns are egg producers and not broody from what I know. You could get them in a few colors, either a rosecomb or single comb brown would be good for you?
Good luck.

There are Buff Leghorns ,Buff Minorcas. They lay white eggs and are not broody.Amber Sex link are cremy white and lay brown eggs

If you only want one or two chicks, you are probably going to be limited to buying
at the feed store, unless you are lucky enough to have a breeder nearby.
The feed stores usually have Buff Orps, which have the cute buffy butts...

but they are notorious for boodiness.

You might keep an eye on craigslist for rarer breeds.
Anything wheaten would be light/creme colored.

I've bought and sold many breeds over the years. The ones I miss the most are my buff orps. They made for such a fluffy & colorful flock. They are friendly, lay well, and aren't overly broody. (1 out of 5 went broody for me). Plus they are pretty easy to find.

Great pic cpartist!

Buff Rock..we love ours and when HappyMtn comes and gets her chicks she may need 2 baby BO's for her flock!
If you want to get something a bit different Wheaten Ameraucana's are beautiful

We sold our buff leghorns because all they were were broody...an exception to every broody breed is a hen willing to prove you wrong!

I understand where you are coming from. My whites and buffs certainly make my flock more "showy" from just a bit of a distance. Not taking anything away from the darker ones, but I like the contrast by having both light and dark.

Some of the Red Sex Links (not Blacks) might suit you. It depends on the cross. Some are darker or lighter than others. The are not purebreds, being a cross of two pure breeds, but they lay a lot of eggs don't often go broody.

I'd suggest you look through the Henderson Breed Chart to help you make your decision. This chart does not have the sex links because they are not pure breeds but it has about everything else.

I'm not sure how high on your list friendliness is. If it is not important, I'd suggest you look at the leghorn. They lay a lot of white eggs and do not often go broody.

For white birds, I'd suggest you consider the Delaware and White Rock. There are several Buff birds on the list. Some with the Columbian pattern could certainly meet your criteria. It may come down to finding out what is readily available in your area then seeing if those are suitable.

Good Luck!!!
