This is a compilation of what I have learned in the past 12 hours (a shift I worked today).
1. Says: Since you did such a great job last week, we were wondering if you would like to do this?
Means: Since I really don't want to do this and since you offered to do it last week, I'm sloughing this load off on you whether you like it or not.
2. Says: You are in charge of this project.
Means: I will be checking up on the progress every 10 minutes and will be double-checking everything you do and say.
3. Says: Will you stay in until 10PM tonight to help finish?
Means: You will stay until the job is done, regardless if you've worked 12 hours or not.
4. Says: I will come back and help you finish this project.
Means: You're on your own. Matter of fact, I'm not even going to tell you when I'm leaving.
Needless to say...I had an awful day of "upper" management hacking on me all day on something that is NOT in my job code, that I was NEVER trained for and that I have little to no experience doing. I was assigned to clean the restrooms ALL day with a fine-toothed comb in order to pass inspection tomorrow.
I'm sorry...but I will NEVER go above and beyond with this company EVER again. I feel used, abused and I ache from all the scrubbing. Worse yet, people broke into the bathrooms even though signs were posted, elements were in the way. I had to run more than 50 (FIFTY) people out of the bathrooms in order to finish the job that was assigned to me.
Sorry...I will now enjoy my 7oz sirloin steak, medium rare. I feel I deserved it.
