So ~ my parents inurnment/memorial service is on Friday. They both went to heaven within the last year - and we are celebrating them together. Dad was a Korean War vet, so there will be an honors ceremony at our National Cemetary. Each of us sister were given a list of tasks for the event. One of my tasks was to inquire on a rifle volley. These amazing squads of veterans provide this service on a voluntary basis. It took many, many calls. Last month, I finally found an American Legion Leader-member, who took down all my information. He then asked me to call or text him one week prior to the event, as a reminder. I set a reminder to do so. I left both phone and text messages, and asked for a reply. He just texted me. They can't do the rifle volley because of a county fair. He gave me 3 other numbers to try. It's 2 days before the funeral. 😢
One of the 3 numbers returned my call. He said he'd try to round up a squad. He didn't sound very hopeful - but he sure was nice.
I wanted this so much for my dad. He was rather decorated. But, never, ever spoke about the war. He was a very quiet man.
I'm just so bummed.

My mom & Dad. Best parents, ever

Get ahold of the Patriot Guard riders in Michigan. Now I don't know their official contact number, the website only gives you a form to fill out for them to contact you. BUT.... If you look at the calendar of events for the state of Michigan, it shows what they have scheduled. Click on one or more of those, and there is contact information for the ride captains and other organizers.

The PG doesn't offer the rifle volleys as part of their service to veterans and families, but they WILL KNOW WHO DOES and probably the right contacts to get a squad together for you lickety-split.

I'm very sorry for your loss. And I thank your Dad and the family for his service to protecting my freedom.

Thank you, BC

Update: The last man who returned my call earlier, worked all afternoon and put together a rifle volley squad for my dad! I am so happy and grateful. ::sniff:: Their squad will get a nice card and gift. My dad would never want a fuss made, but I know this would please him, no end.

Thank you @BarnyardChaos I was just about to look into your link when I got the call.

Thank you @Sally PB That's very kind of you ♡
