Hi,
I am from Garrett County, Maryland. We currently have 7 hens and 1 rooster. We started out with 2 hen in a small coop which held 3 to 4 chickens. Well my son wanted chickens and we bought that coop for him for his 9th bday. (he was building his own coop which looked like a hot mess) lol So hints the bday gift. He saved up his money and bought a bigger coop from tractor supply, this one holds up to 8 chickens.
Well I blame it all on him 2 years later I am hooked. I have currently hatched chicks for the first time from an incubator on April 3rd 8 out of 13. Now I currently have 30/42 in the Incubator for the second hatch ever due to hatch April 27th, Saturday. We are keeping some of these but most are for my husband's cousin. Any way, are currently in the process of building a bigger coop and planning on getting a few more girls.
We love fresh eggs from our girls. We also enjoy watching them roam around the yard scratching and doing their thing. There is something so relaxing watching God's creatures do their thing. I love nature and what it brings. I also hunt, fish, and enjoy the outdoors.
I am an Instructional Assistant in the public schools here. I have 2 children and a hubby. I am currently working on earning my braille certification, Almost finished.
Sorry this is so late of a post to introduce myself. I was a stalker for a while looking for information I needed but then I had questions about incubation my first clutch so here I am. Farm girl at heart. (grew up farming cows mainly) And now thanks to my son's insistence on getting chickens, I am hooked on chickens.
