Ok, so i built my coop quite close to my house was just handier for when i was working on it but now i need to move it. i did think about this before i started and i had a guy with a teleporter ready to do it for me but he has since left the country. so my next idea is to buy soem cheap car wheels and put the coop up on wheels, i just have no idea what to use for an axle, its notoverly important it turns it only has to go about 50 yards or so,

he is a pic of the coop,

i intend to dripp a hole in the font two legs and back to legs and use a jack to lift it up off the ground as i put the wheels on, i'm just not so sure of what type of iron/steel bar will take the weight, i gussimate its about 1.5 ton,

thanks for the reply, yeah might look at making something like that, on car wheels, as you say will be handy for moving around later,

yeah i would have built it in its final position but the ground wasnt ready yet, its a real pain, i might just go annoy some farmer to come in and pick it up and place it where i want it, but the only farm that i know has already come in twice in his tractor and got two punctures 1 each time, new house build so the land is still a bit of a mess,

Each wheel I'm using is rated for 300 lb but they have some that are air free that might be better for you. The steel bar should be stronger than the wheels. Looks like its on 6 4x4s?

If so, I'd jack it up and use three axels. I'd prob do 4 wheels per exterior axel and two on the inside depending on weight displacement. One wheel against each side of each support. That might be more work than you want but if level you should be able to move it on demand?

My first thought anyway based on what I'm doing with mine...which is much smaller!!! Good luck and hope I helped...

thanks that a great idea, i'm stuck between getting it moved quicker by annoying someone with a tractor, or taking my time and building what you suggest above the better solution,

What about using what I call furniture dollies those wooden square things made out of 2x4's on wheels that swivel, would need to put a flat platform on them for the legs of your coop, would need to jack it up and pending on the terrain would help, there is also car dollies at harbor freight they are heavy metal and used to move cars around the shop.

Or mount a 4x4 across the bottom front back and mount some kind of wheel on it that turns or one set that turns and one set that don't.

Try attaching 2x4s to the legs and use them as skids.
You should also bevel the leading edge so it doesn't dig in to the ground.
