He went to buy cattle from an individual and the wife sold him a peacock (because I had mentioned I thought I'd like a pair)

Can some of you experts tell me any more about it other than peafowl?

Congratulations. Hope you'll enjoy your peafowl as much as I do. Looks like a nice SAFE pen you have him in. Raccoons can't reach through nor dig in from beneath.

The first line is correct, but the last part about the peacock being pied is false. Young peacocks at this age will show white in the chest and a bit of white on the face, but as he gets older he will get greenish blue chest feathers and his face will be less white except for that classic facial marking you see on peacocks. I know this because I got a yearling peacock and he looked like that, but he is just an India blue. Then he quickly got blue spots on the white chest feathers and eventually he turned all blue on the chest.

Here is when he was younger:

This is him older without white:

That is good news to me! I really like the all blue more than pied. THANKS

Good, and enjoy that cute little peacock! Oh and if he isn't already pretty tame try hand feeding him some bread or unsalted unshelled peanuts, food is a good bribe to get peafowl close so you can see the detail of their colorful feathers up close.
