just saying hello.. found the site while looking for some information about thermostats as mine seems to have died and unfortunately taken 42 eggs with it. My specific interest is with Faverolles and although I live in town I have both Salmons and Blues and would love to succeed in crossing to come up with Blue Salmons (just for the fun of being able to do it...). I hail from the south east coatal area of New South Wales, a state on the east of Australia and have been around poultry for most of my life and fell in love with the favs about 8 years ago while managing a high school agriculture farm which had both caged and free range flocks. My major interests lie elsewhere (kayaking and fishing) but in spite of a couple of attempts to divest myself of the "chooks" I haven't been able to do it, there is just something about having the hens running around the back yard...

The thermostat was for a homebuilt incubator, a cabinet style, fully auto unit heated by 60 watt light bulbs and a fan to circulate the air over water trays for humidity. The thermostat probe is located at egg hieght as are the temperature and humidity probes to record the internal conditions. I have resorted to an old still air incubator controlled by a wafer thermostat but find that I am not fond of the irregularities that seem to be inherant in the wafer system.

cheers

John
