Hello, fellow poultry folks!

I have been around chickens all my life, as mom kept laying hens, plus ordered for freezer meat every year in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where I grew up.

Having lived here in Arizona for 10 years gives me a different scene when it comes to outdoors. For the last five years, we have raised laying hens, meat birds and turkeys. I look forward to new chicks every year, whether they come from the hatchery, or a few of my hens decide to be broody and give me a few new babies.

We have dealt with cold, wet, overheated and plain sick chicks, dealt with bobcats, coyotes, hawks and escaped chickens.

I look forward to sharing information, learning new things, and being part of the group.

Thanks!
Deb

Welcome to BYC, Deb! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Sounds like you have been thorough lots of chicken raising experiences. That is the best way to learn.
I hope you get some chicks some way this year. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are glad to have you join our flock!

You are very welcome here, I'm sure your run ins with bobcats, etc. would provide food for thought. With your knowledge, you would be a good resource as a new member greeter. We can always use more.
