The only time I have ever had to cover a bird's head was when I was doing "surgery" on a wing ripped off by a raccoon. I usually just tuck the head under my arm & work from the back half of the bird. It the head is sticking out the back of my body, & I'm working in front they can't see what I'm doing & are much less concerned abut it. My main thing is always pinning the wings & watching the claws. Wings can even be clipped this way by 1 person. This also allows legs to be extended behind the bird's body to be examined or worked on.Just a note. I have always been able to do any job alone as long as I have covered the birds head and had all of my tools needed on my person.
