First batch of chics... Me and my son Connor are having a blast! Started off with 31 eggs 7 from eBay and 24 from a local lady. eBay eggs I could tell we're scrambled after 7 days in the incubator. Of the rest 3 began to develop and stopped and we are left with 11 that I Believe to be doing well so far (2 hatched today). This has been a wonderful experience with my boy, I couldn't think of a better hobby. BYC has been a wealth of information. We built our own incubator, and are currently building a chicken mansion for the back yard (almost done). I must thank all the fine folks that share information and post pictures of their projects without you we would still be pecking at google for answers. Anyone that has yet to pull the trigger on the idea of raising your own chickens, even though still in the early stages of this hobby I would suggest doing it! It has been a fun endeavor thus far, and sharing in the fun my oldest son Connor (4). We had an art day for the calendar we made to hang above the incubator and a turn chart and candling note chart. Picking out bad eggs was a small life lesson for him and getting to see flutters in the good ones on candling days held the same importance. We can't wait to get these little guys out (hopefully girls too
) and start bonding with them.
