Hello everyone. I am not real computer literate but I will do my best. I had 6 chicks yesterday but one died last night. Everyone else seems fine. I had them in the brooder which is a 8 foot by 3 foot wooden crate with light and food and water. My coop here in Pell City helped me out on what I needed to get started. Starting my coop tommorrow. Have 6 wood crates same size as brooder and hope I can make the chicks a great home on the edge of a 3/4 acre garden. Never raised anything but dogs so I am reading a ton. Question do I have to have a Rooster. Only plan on eating the eggs not raising chickens at this time. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to BYC!

Sorry for your loss. You can't really be sure until the pullet/cockerel starts laying or crowing.
