Hi,
We just joined the BYC forum. We are from Central CT. Live in an big suburb part of town.
Our kids are involved in 4-H, mostly with dogs though. Although we did show rabbits one year.
We have had chickens before, but only for a Summer. Then had some runner ducks (2) which later got killed by some wild animals.
Now we got 6 chicks from a feed store.
2- bantam cochins
2- silkie
2- polish lace (boy, are these guys loud.)
We are raising them mostly for fun.
Am in the progress of building a coop for them.
We are noticing something so we hope to find some answers here.
We are feeding them on medicated chick starter, but have noticed at times, red poop in the silkie and the polish. I think it is irritated stomach upset. So that is why I join. And will read up on the post here.
They are still indoor chicks. I have not put them outside yet. Still building their coop. They are 1 month old- the silkies & polish.
Anyway, looking forward to learning more from others here ahead of us in Chicken 101.
Thanks,javascript:insert_text('
