I have an urban backyard flock of four hens, three of which behave like proper hens, happily clucking around the yard. The fourth, an Americauna, is trouble. She is VERY noisy, particularly early in the morning and she attempts to or successfully flies out of the yard every other day. When we shut them in their run, she paces around the perimeter like an animal at the zoo.

We are feeling like she isn't happy in our yard. My husband is ready to get rid of her. She hasn't started laying yet - might she mellow out a bit after that?

Thanks for the advice - our trouble hen is louder than all the dogs in the neighborhood!
