A question on crows.

I am NOT advocating shooting crows; they are a wonderful "alarm" system. With that said, last spring I saw a family of crows harassing a mother robin on her nest; when they finally got her off the nest one of the other crows swooped down and snagged a baby, then a few others did the same thing. These were very young, baby birds, but crows are omnivores and will eat mice, frogs, small snakes. lizards... and small birds.

Around here the ravens think they are chickens, mixing right in with them. The ravens alert the chickens about any predators including: coyotes, dogs, strange people and hawks. They actively chase off the hawks. I would not trust them around very young chicks, because they do eat small nestlings.

Please do not shoot any crow, raven or hawk.

In the span of one week I saw crows in my neighborhood harass a falcon above my home and a blad eagle not too far away.

Mind you, I live in the city.
