Well, as the school year comes to a close I have found myself without something to do this summer. I had so much fun hatching ducks this fall that I was thinking of buying some hatching eggs over the summer and hatching out some babies. I do not however have a place to keep these babies permanently. I was wondering how and where you guys sell your day olds or week olds or whatever. I see them on craigs list, but that doesnt seem very sure. I live in the north texas DFW area. I was wondering what you guys do. I was scouring ebay and saw some eggs for sale. Including ornamental breeds like wood ducks and mandarins. I had a great hatch rate on my first try and I really want to do it again. Any advice? Thanks.

Well the bigger hatcheries started out small but I really don't see you covering your costs if you are paying retail for the eggs to hatch

there are BYCers selling their hatching eggs on here too-mandarins and woods are very expensive eggs to buy and I was told by several people they are difficult to hatch. Some of the local feed stores buy babies, I dont know what the Texas laws are but that may be a good place to start. The feed store down the street from me also sells duck hatching eggs or cooking eggs so you can ask. I know I got some of my duck eggs from someone close to DFW off ebay, I also have gotten lots of good eggs from a lady from Arkansas on ebay including my calls that just hatched-she is a really nice lady who is a homesteader and has lots of breeds and mixes-her ebay name is eggs2u4cheap. Calls are a very wanted breed of bantam duck and should sell well, though some people have trouble hatching I havent, just need to have them on their sides. I also have seen Ozarkbantams on here and Scott has pics of his white calls he just hatched and they are selling their eggs on BYC's auction site-their birds look great. I love hatching eggs and I am so glad several of my friends all want babies every year-and yes it usually ends up costing me money, but they do go to great homes

and if you are using that Brower in your pic that is perfect for duck eggs since it rolls them back and forth just like you are suppose to-I love mine, getting such great hatches this year, also hatched silkie chicks-so adorable and fluffy soft, I wanted silkies so I can try to use them to hatch my duck eggs since they are suppose to be great parents

thanks for the info callducklover. That was helpful. I did look on here too at some of the eggs. And i was thinking about trying calls too. And yes that is the incubator i will be using. It held very steady for me and the turner works great. I will check out that ebayer. I appreciate your help. I'm only planning on hatching maybe one or two batches, I just need something to do over the summer. Thanks for the help.
