A skunk got away with my chicks

Last night, a skunk dug under the wall of our portable coop which was housing a broody hen and her 7 chicks (they were a week old). The skunk made off with 4 of the chicks, but left everyone else relatively unscathed (Momma has a cut on her foot, but that's it). Tonight momma and the other 3 babies are sleeping in my kitchen and will go back out to the portable coop in the morning. Hopefully we will finish building a more secure place for them to sleep tomorrow because I'm sure that our stinky little "friend" will be back.

That sucks! Skunks stink too. The only way to stop preditors is to have a very secure coop or remove them by force.
