So I set 7 eggs and 3 were infertile. On day 20 one hatched and as I took my daughters to soccer practice the cat (while trying to get to the new chirping chick) knocked the incubator off onto the floor... My wife called me and let me know what happened. She cleaned up the mess and put everything in a bag and set it outside the house. One had stopped developing and two were bloody and lifeless. All the remaining eggs busted open. A couple of hours later I got home and checked on the one remaining chick that was doing fine. I went outside to check on something and heard a chirp coming from the bag of grossness. I pulled out a chick that was halfway in a busted egg and it was softly chirping. I figured what the heck and put it back in the incubator. During the night I heard it pecking on the plastic incubator, I assumed it was thinking it had to peck out of the egg. The next day it was still lying on its side and couldn't pick its head up, also had a cut on its neck from the original fall. That day I spoke to my wife and it was on its tummy but one leg was kicked out behind it. I figured when I get home I would put it down. By the time I got home it was standing up a little but kept drooping its head, and appeared to be falling asleep. I moved it to the brooder as it was able to walk around a little, and put some triple antibiotic on its neck. To my surprise today (day 22) it is running around like normal!
I always heard that if you help them out of the shell they always died... I suppose "Lucky" is an exception to the rules...
